{"id":5660,"date":"2017-01-19T14:38:36","date_gmt":"2017-01-19T14:38:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wineglass-communication.hu\/mediatrendek-magyarorszagon\/"},"modified":"2022-09-14T07:24:44","modified_gmt":"2022-09-14T07:24:44","slug":"media-trends-in-hungary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wineglass-communication.hu\/en\/media-trends-in-hungary\/","title":{"rendered":"Media trends in Hungary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the help of some new research, let&#8217;s take a look at the latest trends in Hungary that you should take into account when planning your winery&#8217;s marketing activities this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hungarians and the Internet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In June last year, the number of internet users aged 15 and over exceeded 5.4 million, according to a survey by Gemius, which is in line with the European average and high in the Central and Eastern European region. 76.6% of users are already daily Internet users. 20.7% of Internet users are in Budapest, 53.6% live in a county towns or other cities and 25.8% in small towns.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although 69% of digital content consumers are aged 18-49, the presence of people aged 60+ in the online sphere is steadily increasing. Interestingly, as the number of internet users increases, so does the number of people who no longer watch TV every day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>The golden age of TV is over<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking at the Media Hungary conference last May, R\u00f3bert Pint\u00e9r, one of the speakers, said that although the average Hungarian still spends four and a half hours a day watching TV, it is only in the over-40s that it is the primary channel. However, even those over forty who regularly use the internet can be said to consider the internet as important as television.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, in the younger age groups 18-29 and 30-39, television is clearly in decline, so much so that for the 18-29 age group it is only in third place behind social media and the internet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-319\" src=\"https:\/\/wineglass-communication.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/kaves_csesze_telefon_ujsag-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"kaves_csesze_telefon_ujsag\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>We are in love with social networking sites<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On average, a Hungarian user spends 86 minutes browsing Facebook, with four-fifths of them never missing a day to visit the most popular social networking site in Hungary, according to research published by the Association of Hungarian Content Providers in February last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interestingly, the experts put users into categories that remind winemakers of the toasting categories for barrels. Based on how much time they spend on the most popular social networking sites, they distinguish between heavy, medium and light facebookers. The age of 30 is also an important threshold in this area, below which heavy users are more common than above.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Online is on mobile<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to a survey conducted by eNET in late summer and early autumn last year, 2 600 000 people in the EU already use mobile internet on a smartphone or tablet. According to the online survey, two thirds of the Hungarian adult internet-using population use their smartphones to access the internet, and a quarter of them use tablets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wifi access is available on 98% of these devices, which is more than 3.5 million people. While 62% have a mobile internet subscription, a further 19% plan to subscribe and a further 15% are considering it. The latter three figures add up to 96%, leaving only 4% of smartphone or tablet users who do not consider continuous internet access necessary and are content with the occasional source of wifi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the context of Facebook use in Hungary, the MTE study also finds that our active presence on the social network &#8211; i.e. not just when we are browsing the feed, but when we are liking, sharing or commenting &#8211; is no longer dependent on the device we are using.
