Planning in content marketing
You can read the previous part of our series on content marketing by clicking here and find the full list at the bottom of this post.
It is worth planning at least three months in advance. This timeframe still allows time for all elements to be worked out, while at the same time maintaining flexibility. A monthly work schedule within this timeframe will help you to work on a weekly basis.
By starting early, you give yourself the opportunity to make the most of the content and not compromise due to time constraints. Ideally, there should be at least two or three rounds of checking after the text has been written.
If you are working alone and cannot ask someone else to read the text, it is a good idea to put it aside for a day or two after writing it, so that you can look at it with fresh eyes next time. Don’t be afraid to edit! Unnecessary words and phrases actually will take you further from your goal and not any closer. There is no such thing as too pithy.
You’re better off if someone else can look at the text or video content. It only takes a minimum of people skills to decide who is good at what. Some people are good at spelling or stylistics, others can spot any technical errors, and a consumer eye can spot details that may seem obvious to you but may not be so to your target audience.
